To accompany its new exhibition, Hats: an anthology by Stephen Jones the
V&A has launched two very different films about the hat, both
produced by Cultureshock Media. The first is an 8-minute film about
Stephen Jones, the celebrated milliner who curated the show. Filmed in
Jones’s Covent Garden studio and workshop this atmospheric film examines
the methods and motivation of the man who has emerged as the world’s
leading hat designer since he burst on the New Romantic club scene
nearly 30 years ago. And to celebrate the show’s opening Cultureshock
worked alongside the V&A’s own digital film team to produce a buzzy
five minute ‘Vox Pop’ film of the glittering launch party in February.
Among the hat-lovers interviewed in the film are comedian David
Walliams, singer Roisin Murphy, model Erin O’Connor and designers Philip
Treacy, Jasper Conran and Giles Deacon.
